Be Prepared. Whether you are a novice or a serious off-roader, you should take a page out of the Scouts hand book and "be prepared" for what the trail might throw at you. That's why you should outfit your Toyota Tacoma with a reliable recovery system like Barricade Off-Road's 9500 lb Heavy Duty Winch. This Barricade Winch will help you to get out of the messiest situations.

Heavy Duty 9500 LB Winch. This Barricade Off-Road Winch is driven by a powerful 5.5 HP series-wound 12-volt electric motor. Featuring a rugged 3-stage planetary gear box with a 195.4:1 gear ratio, this Barricade Winch provides 9500 lbs of pulling power. Matched with a sliding ring gear clutch and a two-way automatic, in-the-drum braking system, you know you can always rely on this winch to hold your rig.

Additional Features. This Barricade Off-Road 9500 lb Winch features a 4-way aluminum hawse fairlead that helps reduce wear and tear on the rope while keeping it from binding. When not in use the included cover will protect the 94 feet of bright orange synthetic rope from the elements. This Barricade Winch also includes a wired remote control with a 12 foot lead allowing you to safely stand clear when in operation.

Simple, Bolt-on Installation. Barricade engineered their winches to be a direct bolt-on upgrade that can be installed in under an hour using just basic hand tools. With overall dimensions of 21.1-inch × 6.3-inch × 8.6-inch and a mounting bolt pattern of 254mm X 114.3mm, there should be no drilling required for most applications. All necessary mounting hardware is included making this an easy straight forward installation.

Application. This Barricade Off-Road 9500lb Winch is designed for use on all Toyota Tacoma models. A battery with a minimum of 650cca (cold cranking amps) is required for operation.

Please note that this review pertains solely to the installation process, as I haven't yet utilized the winch in practical scenarios. Prior to this, I had no experience with winch usage or installation, making it impossible for me to compare my process with other winches or vehicles.

The installation involved attaching the winch to a Barricade HD Stubby Front Bumper on a '21 Tacoma Sport. Despite being listed as compatible, the control box did not fit as described due to interference from the hood latch bracket. Specifically, the control box's height prevented it from fitting properly. Additionally, the wiring from the control box to the winch was excessively short, limiting options for relocation. The control box lacked sturdiness, raising concerns about its durability when exposed to the elements. Pulling the plastic wiring stud covers over the connectors proved to be exceptionally difficult, resulting in some tearing (of the covers, not my eyes).

Overall, the installation process was challenging and perplexing, primarily due to the suboptimal control box and restricted relocation options caused by insufficient wire length. Although the installation guide was fun to read, it was ultimately not helpful.

Review for Barricade 9,500 lb. Winch with Synthetic Rope (Universal; Some Adaptation May Be Requi...

The Barricade Winch was in good shape and had all the cables and pieces needed.
The quality is definitely high level with no damage.

I was able to prep the Controller box onto the winch body before installing into my truck. The cords are color coordinated and was very easy to connect.

The only problem that I ran into was the location of the control box on the winch when installing into my 22 Tacoma TRD Sport. The cross bar and hood latch system is in the way of the controller box location. I had to do some modification and relocating of the control box.

A good option to have with the Barricade Winch is an option for a relocation bracket or a way to mount the control box onto the side of the bars instead of on top.

I installed the Barricade Winch into the Barricade Stubby Winch Bumper. The holes at the bottom lined up perfectly and the Fairlead was perfect.

Everything about the winch was perfect except for the fitting in the engine bay behind the grill.
I had to cut a little and to "make things fit." It would be nice to have an option for the control box to be relocation for the 22 Tacoma's...or at least longer cables that connect the control box to the Winch so the relocation could be easier.

Other than that, a very easy installation and a great product.

Seems well built for weighing only 44lbs, haven't really used it yet just installed and tested. Will update as it sees more use. I got it for black Friday so I saved a lot.
