Barricade's Tailgate Assist uses a damping strut to slowly and smoothly open your RAM's tailgate when unlatched, preventing it from just dropping open. The Tailgate Assist is ideal for those times when you only have one free hand to open your tailgate.

Simple, Bolt-on Installation. Barricade designed their Tailgate Assist to be a direct bolt-on upgrade reusing existing factory mounting points. There is no drilling or modifications required for a simple straight forward install. With just a set of basic hand tools this Barricade Tailgate Assist can be installed in less then 30 minutes.

Application. The Barricade Tailgate Assist is designed to fit all 2009-2018 RAM 1500 models.

Easy to install following instructions. Works great and tailgate lowers so effortlessly now!
Instructions have you remove the limiting washer on the tailgate cable but I replaced it with a heavy duty nylon plastic washer so the metal cable end doesn’t gouge the paint.

By far one of the easiest mods/upgrades that virtually anyone can do. Video instructional install by AT is better than the instructions that come with the kit.
Couldn’t use the cable sleeve because my cable still has the factory rubber so I saved it in case the cable rubber goes bad. I believe that’s why it’s included to prevent bare cable from rubbing the assist shock. Works perfectly even when the cable goes between bed and assist this gives a pop noise as cable is pulled out. Just push to right and no problem, I believe in time the memory of the cable will stay to right of assist in time

Perfect little shock! So much nicer being able to let the tailgate fall slowly on its own. Install took about 15 minutes.
