Simple, Bolt-on Installation. Barricade designed their Tailgate Assist to be a direct bolt-on upgrade reusing existing factory mounting points. There is no drilling or modifications required for a simple straight forward install. With just a set of basic hand tools this Barricade Tailgate Assist can be installed in less than 30 minutes.
Application. The Barricade Tailgate Assist is designed to fit all 2007-2018 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 models. Not compatible with the 2007 Silverado 1500 Classic models.

This tailgate assist shock is great to have on the truck so when the wife or grandkids go to open the tailgate, it’s not slamming down hard on the cables and nobody gets hurt.
I purchased this about 18 months ago. It was very easy to install and I was very happy with the way it controlled the tailgate opening. However, after 18 months it no longer works. I would not recommend wasting your money.
Had a small issue with the install, but after watching some YT videos I was able to get the nutsert to work and installation was a breeze.
It took less than 10 minutes to install – couldn’t have been easier. It works really well and does exactly what it was designed to do. Seems like its good quality.
