Installation less than 20 mins. This was much needed item to stop the tailgate from slamming open. Only drawback so far is I noticed a bit of rusting already on the black painted area where the piston rod enters the housing. That’s why only four stars.

The tail gate assist was very to install. My only grief is with the instruction that came with. I did not bend the bar. I just placed it in and tightened it down and that cause the bar to bend into the correct place. Have it on my truck now for a bout 3 months and love it

I really wish the instructions were better when installing this. The rod you have to bend should already be bent and shown better in the pictures. Hopefully we got that correct but who knows. We had trouble snapping the shocks on after we got it installed. Directions doesn’t show that you have to pull out the little pin and then put it back in after you connect the shock to the brackets. We finally figured it out and then it was easy. The tailgate is heavy and this shock really helps assist the lowering and raising, but the instructions are not clear.
