Simple, Bolt-on Installation. Barricade designed their Tailgate Assist to be a direct bolt-on upgrade reusing existing factory mounting points. There is no drilling or modifications required for a simple straight forward install. With just a set of basic hand tools this Barricade Tailgate Assist can be installed in less then 30 minutes.

This works great when opening the tailgate which is very heavy.
Just pull the handle to unlock the tailgate and let go. The tailgate opens slowly and smooth. My wife really likes this function .

02 Ram 1500 . It works . The instructions are garbage. An the plastic piece they give you to put on factory cable is too small, but you can get away without it. The washer it tells you to remove can’t be removed on this truck. Take a screwdriver an your hammer an bend the tab out of the way. All in all it does what it’s suppose to.

Took my son and I about 15 mins from start to finish. Compared to the Mopar equivalent, which is 4-6 times more expensive, this does the trick for me. It works just as my Mopar strut did, but I can see why folks are having issues with longevity. For the price though, this strut cannot be beat. Would not recommend for anyone who uses their tailgate daily, but definitely recommend for everyone else.
