  1. The rack fits my 1992 Jeep Wrangler as expected and looks good. It works well – even securely hauled lumber for rebuilding my back deck!
The install was another story. The first installer decided that he could not do it and had me come pick up my Jeep. After a few more days another was found. After reading about the install service offered, I was expecting something like you see on those TV shows – car repair and customization experts who do this all the time. Neither the first installer or the one who finally tried had ever done anything like this before. The website does say that there may be extra charge for a challenging install, but I figured that meant if the installer needed to fab up a custom bracket or something along those lines. My installer charged extra just for extra hours – which seemed to me to be more due to their inexperience and lack of expertise. When I picked up my Jeep, the rack looked great, but there were some extra nuts in the drink holder and even a piece of wiring. I didn’t really think anything of it, because there was no electrical involved in my installation – must have been something in the mechanic’s pocket or hand that he just absent-mindedly lay down in my jeep. A couple of days later, I noticed that the light under my dash on the passenger side was not working. The under dash lights are newly-replaced LED’s and very bright. (That, combined with the fact that I had only owned my jeep for a few weeks, contributed to my not noticing the broken light right away.) A week later I was driving through a storm and flipped the switch for my Fog Lights, only to find out they no longer work! So I ended up with a good rack that works, but one broken under-dash light and broken fog lights! And the install ended up coasting me twice as much as the rack itself!

  2. Easy to install, would be better with instructions, or parts numbered. Installed rear supports and top bars on the wrong side the first time.

  3. I bought it at first to run a basket to carry logs or cargo but ended up buying the smittybilt overlander tent for the top! It’s been a great addition to the old YJ. Couldn’t recommend it more to any of you jeep enthusiasts out there. Solid purchase!

  4. I didn’t have any issues with installation. Just a bit of common sense along with instructions and you can do it.

  5. I bought it last year and has an strong material, I enjoy it all the time.
