Pop out old ones with proper tool such as 2 in 1 plier head metal door trim remover, clean and shine the step bar, put new ones in place while you align pegs in the previous holes, they do fit, and just rotate them if not aligned, then tap them in place with a sand mallet, done... 15 minute job.
