Barricade HD Adventure Roof Rack (21-25 Bronco 4-Door)

When I set out to buy a rack for my Bronco, I wanted to make sure I was able to maintain the ability to open the Soft Top Roof of the vehicle. I did a lot of research trying to find the rack that would accommodate, and this is the only one. It is not necessary to install all of the cross bars on top if you do not have any cargo going on top. I have installed two small solar panels in between the two rear cross bars with allow me full access of the rear cargo area, being able to lift the rear soft top hatch, and I can open the first stage of the soft top from the front. I also have a batwing 270 on the drivers side permanently mounted and that installation was simple with the included riser brackets. I believe they are intended for mounting Roto-Pax but also accommodate a number of other applications.

I only have two minor complaints:
One: I am out on trail 3-5 days out of the week, off-roading is what I do for a living. I really put products through their paces. With the awning permanently installed, and a RTT that I take on and off for various trips, the rack when fully loaded has a tendency to wobble side to side like an unsupported parallelogram through monotonous rough terrain. I was able to mitigate this by fabricating two diagonal brackets from some basic 1"x1/8" flat stock steel and attaching between the rear ladder and rear cross member. so, $2 of material and 20 minutes of my time, I was able to remedy the problem.
Two: The front wind faring may take a few attempts to install where it won't whistle, but with some patience you can get it perfect.

I bought this because it is the only one available for a soft top. I was excited to install but item was backordered and arrived mid winter. Finally, installed and bolts were missing and washers. The icing on the cake the wind shield would not install with the parts included Barricade said source locally its been 30 days!! The wind noise is considerable, but I can live with it.

I'm not a fan of the metric hardware and the directions are pretty sketchy. I have a hardtop so I had to take that off to get started then, there is no way of knowing where to install the gaskets without assembling most of the rack, and then, you can't put the cap back on with the rack in the way so, you take the rack off and there is nothing keeping the mounting brackets in place!! The direction don't address any of this. By the way, DON'T INSTALL this thing ALONE!

Heavy duty, super functional, and easy, fast installation

First, I have the soft top on my bronco and can't comment on a hard top version. I will send a copy of the instructions to ET maybe they will post them with the add so you can read through them before your purchase.

Pros.
I must start by saying it is one well-built item. Heavy steel rails and a nice finish. I say the install took an afternoon, but it was more like an afternoon plus and that's not bad at all. I can see where they designed this with a future for addons and improvements.

Cons.
Weight, the weight must be considerable from what I can tell, this may bring down the already poor gas millage you get with the bronco.
The big one is the wind noise I had upgraded my stereo system the second day I had the War Wagon, and I could hardly hear it while doing 45 plus on the road and the faster you go the worst it gets. At first, I installed the Wind Fairing that came with it, and I was not at all impressed with the look it gave the bronco, but I took it for a test drive where I found out about the wind noise. I then removed the fairing and took it for another drive that seemed to help a little and I mean little, but for me I am going to leave it off, it just looks better. I will be getting with Barricade to see if there working on a hole face faring to cut down on the noise. I know this is an off-road vehicle, but you do have to take some highways to get to where you want.

All in all, it's a nice product and this being my first Barricade purchase time will tell.
